Reenie Charrière is our next artist in the 'Think Outside the Walls' Series.
May 1, 2021
Everyday situations stir Reenie Charrière’s investigations of what lingers in the environment. Her practice involves collecting and transforming everyday materials, especially throwaways. As a mixed media artist Reenie playfully pushes materials in unexpected arrangements bringing a surprising beauty to what may be discarded. Her artwork also reveals and questions the abundance of waste in our consumer-dependent society.
Motivated by architecture, movement, and space, Reenie’s sculptural installations play upon the unpredictable juxtapositions of natural and synthetic matter.

"I am a teacher at Nueva School in Hillsborough, CA, a school for gifted children. I work as an art specialist, for grades 1-6. Many of my working hours are spent investigating and problem-solving with kids and other teachers. Since Covid-19 I have been teaching from my studio at home on Zoom. It's a little bit like having my students in my studio every day."
